At our local races we are a couple of guys who normaly go equally fast. It is carpet racing and the grip is low, it's always an issue to get the rear to stick on turn-in. Running modifide on Sorex 28.

At last weekends race one of the guys had mounted the 2mm chassie and the 1.6mm top deck on his car, and I was expecting that to be a huge advantage for him. But throughout the race weekend we were still running approx same laptimes.

Do you guys think that with some setup work the new combo will be faster for conditions as above or should I just stick with the kit one?

Looks like you may have answered your own question, your lap times were about the same.

Let him experiment and see if he gains anything.

How big is your track?
You could post your setup or fill out an Xray setup sheet if you want more advice from anyone.

Here is one of our races. They're all 13.5's with Sorex 28's

Thank for your reply. Here is the setup i was driving for the finals this weekend. I spent the weekend testing the XH arms for the first time.
The track is big (DHI Cup size+), and had a fast layout this weekend.

xform/index.php?act=view&ID=225&setup=t3_2012

I was hoping someone had experience with the new chassie on similar conditions. I want to be proactive but at the same time I don't want to spend the $ if it won't make me faster :)

There is no permanent track where I live so testing opportunity is limited.

I found a photo of the track.

Normaly i don't run that big gap in springs either. Here is where i started from, this was difficult to drive and a bit slower.
xform/index.php?act=view&ID=182&setup=t3_2012

And another one of how i ran it last time on the same carpet:
xform/index.php?act=view&ID=153&setup=t3_2012

I am very pleased with the car, it is performing good almost no matter what i do to it.

I think i'll just give the question at hand a wait, maybe it's a bit to soon and not many people have tried the chassie yet?

Even with the HPI springs they seem a bit heavy.

What are you trying to achieve with the heavy springs, is it initial or mid steering, becuase you will reduce steering with the harder front springs but then you seem to be trying to gain it back with the front arm sweep etc.

Have you tried lowering the rear upper inner link to 0.5mm or even 0mm?

This is the winning setup for the following race (It's 13.5 on Sorex 32 JB's);

And video;

Been trying to find a good balance. As mentioned the problem is getting the rear to stick. It was the XH arms that made me run the big splitt in springs, normaly i have been running 2.6rear and 2.8-3.0front.
I went from 1.5 to 0.5 to 1.0 on the rear upper inner link. Was not able to feel much difference.

The car was very fun to drive with the XH arms, quick response. But for now I think I would be more consistent with the H arms, but then prehaps it just takes some getting used to.

I think the best combo is actually sometimes in combination with the standard 2mm topdeck, this will make the car drive more "round" and will be easier mid corner. The advantages of the thinner chassis is mainly more rear traction and that the car will drive better over curbs.

Thank you Alex. Will give it a try then.

What do you think about H arms versus the XH arms? What they do to the car and when it is preferd to use which?

When ever Iv had trouble with rear grip I always, mostly always, remove grip from the front.

No, did not get in more testing this season. Are moving outdoors now and will mainly be driving nitro touring until late august.
