Hi

I am having a slight issue when adjusting ride height on my t3 12 with the aluminium shocks.

I build the shocks with equal rebound, put the springs on, and bolt on to car.

I mark the collar on each shock to then count down the number of turns from the top.

When i have set my ride height 5mm front 5.5mm rear,

The pre-load or the gap from the cap to the collar is 4.2mm on the left hand shock, but on the right hand shock it is around 3mm,

I cannot understand fully what I am doing wrong

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check your Balance and your Downstop.
I think your Car has tweak. Have you check this?
Take a screwdriver or something else and put it into the little hole in the Chassis where you check your balance also, and then lift up your car.
Look on your tyres and i think some one of the tyres lift up first and not both together.

To clarify: are you saying that you turned both collars the same number of times and then measured this difference?

I have two sets of ali shocks, have built both in exactly the same way, and one set is perfect lol.

Yellowshark, no sorry I phrased that wrong, I meant if I just set the ride height how i want it (not worrying about number of turns).

Checked balance etc, car is all good,

I think im over looking something so will just fully rebuild the shocks again

LOL, I can't help thinking that I am misunderstanding you Mattmead but if you are setting the ride height without turning the left and right collars the same number of turns(or partial turns) then yes the measurements will be different

you must work with both shocks at the same time

Start by :

winding all shocks right up start with about three turns down on all shocks then check your ride height if you want to raise it or lower it PLEASE do both shocks at the same time.

Im doing exactly as above, if I do this I get 4.5 mm on the left hand side (rear) and 5.5mm on the right hand side (rear),

OK, I wonder. Could it be that one of the collars is sticking on the thread and you are actually turning the shock body around? This would undo the shock cap. Have you checked that both shock caps are still screwed all the way down after you have finished?
