I've just setup my T3 US edition (2010) with a set of C rated springs 3.0 on the front 2.6 on the rear Im a little confusssed as the front of the car now feels softer than the back, where as before when i had the Whites (rears) and ligth-purples (front) the front was harder. im running 350 oil in all the shocks and 2 holes open on all the shocks and they all have the same rebound and the same shock tower positions. is there somthing obvious that im doing wrong, or is it that the C rated springs reacted differently hence the softer feeling on the front? |

well friday way a resounding failure, my car normally goes around the (CARPET) track like its on rails. whereas with the 3.0 and the 2.6 the arse felt so loose im preety sure it had popped amyl nitrate. i ended up have 3.4's on the front and 2.2's which just about made the car drivable. im currently running 350 all round all on 2 holes, i was thinking of moving up to 550 on the front and reverting the springs back to front 3.0 and rears 2.6 any thoughts? |

Hi Zoberman, I do not consider myself to be an expert in this area but I would say I think a spring difference from 3.4 to 2.2 is just plain wrong. It is imbalanced between front and rear and hiding another problem. I am building my 1st T3 car , a '12, and I was surprised, in the kit settings, that when XRAY moved the front springs from 2.8 to 3.0 that they did not move the oil at the front from 350 to 400. The two settings are not linked in absolute terms but there is a general rule for balance of overall settings that one tends to stiffen the oil when stiffening the springs. To avoid any arguments I am saying this is a general tendency and with any given circumstances, fine tuning may not follow it. But to me stiffening the springs from 3.0 to 3.4 without touching the oil is wrong. I would be inclined to put the 3.0 springs back on with 400 oil and maybe move the upper connection out one hole. If you still have a wayward rear end I would be inclined then to look elsewhere rather than piling on the front suspension stiffness; balance is achieved via mutiple things including symmetry. HTH |
