i find that hard to believe, this is a brand new car on carpet.1 practice session, three heats and a main and that many bearings are bad.thats not from dirt or lack of maintainance.ive been doing this for a while so its not like im a newbie just new to this car.the bearing i took the seal off of looked dry and so did what was left of the layshaft bearing,no lube ive ever seen wears off that fast.so it was nothing i did had i ran this car for weeks with no maintainance that would be one thing but 5 runs comeon.plus this is carpet its not like im running outdoors and yes i now carpet is very abrasive and will chew up bearings if left unattended but thats not the case here.so i find it hard to believe nobody else has had this problem. |

well after talking with some people that would know about bearing failures in these cars,i guess this isnt that uncommon.although mine were extremely short lived.layshaft failures are more common when running mod but it does happen in stock also.makes sense when you look at the design though.the bearings with the most load on them are the smallest in the drivetrain.minor setback compared to the quality of the rest of the car.i just ordered some ceramic bearings from boca so that should get rid of the problem altogether plus no maintainance.if you havent tried these bearings get some ,very low drag(very similar to bearings with no shield once broken in) and i havent had a bearing failure ever with them.ill keep everyone posted to how they work out for me. |
