Post subject: | Setup advice |
I ran at the STCC round at Adur (UK) at the weekend and struggled with setup for most of the day with the back of the car being very loose both on corner entry and exit. This gave me a car that I was having to tip toe in and out of the corners to avoid the rear coming round, and was no fun to drive. I'm running a T3 with the setup very close to the kit standard, except the droop was set to 5 and 4, ride height 5 and 5.5, 425 cst oil all round (rebound of 25%), and the wheelbase lengthed (all shims moved to the front of the rear wishbone). What changes would you make and in what order to try to dial out both off power and on power oversteer? Don |

Looks like our setups were very similar - my more detailed setup: Droop 5 ft, 4 bk Ride height 5 ft, 5.5 bk Alloy Shocks 1.1mm 3 hole piston Oil 425 cst all round Shocks in position 3 all round Roll bars 1.4 ft, 1.2 bk Springs 3.0 ft, 2.6 bk Camber -1.5 degress all round 1mm shim on front c-hub 4mm shim on rear hub l1/l2 roll centers Speed 6 shell Ball diff I notice that both your springs are softer at the front. Doesn't this give you more front end, so would exasberate any instability at the rear? Perhaps all this is coming back to my tyre prep - What magic were you using ![]() I'm still interested in how you dial out oversteer as I've struggled with this in the past. Don |

I only had some oversteer if I was violent or used a lot of lock when braking around a corner, but it was managable. I had soft front springs to try and get the car to turn in harder as I think this is where mine was lacking. I tried a couple of different carpet additives and CS Max Grip and couldn't tell any difference between them, although my fastest lap was set using Max Grip (16.57) |
