Post subject:  What should I change, loose mid corner ?

Hi,

This is what I run at my local track xform/index.php?act=view&ID=415&setup=t3_2011 I find the back can get loose (only sometimes) on a long fast sweaper. What should I change ?

Thanks.

Holding some throttle around the sweeper?
Tyres glue is holding OK?
Are bumps upsetting the car hence the reason for inconsistancy?

Yes it seems to be on throttle, tyres were new so it must be the bumps upsetting the car ?

thats their banked sweeper?

looking at that setup ide say the rear is to soft and most likely collapsing. it may seem unusual but a stiffer rear spring might help you here, as well as dropping the front spring rate.. eg 3.0 front 2.8 rear.

Ok I'll give it a try, only reason I went to 3.2's on the front was my car was loose off power into the corner.

rear should work more-make rear softer-open all holes on the rear

Hey Saw,

I will put together a team starting setup for Aldershot asap. At last years national I ran Xray 2.6 spring all round so I think 3.2 front is way too stiff... It sounds to me that your car is being unsettled by the bumps.

Ill post a link to the setup here when its up.

All the best,

Phil Chambers.

Thankyou.

Just been doing some testing today, what we noticed was a certain line around the sweaper the car was fine if I went low or high it would spin :D so I'll probably have to go softer on the front now as it does push alot on some of the tighter infield section.

As someone else said it does depend on where this is happening but you might want to try a bit more droop on the front? We had a similar type of problem at the Aldershot Nats last year; the rear would often twitch quite badly about the point where the entry seemed to tranisition fully into banking. In the end, looking at the inclination of the surface I figured the front inside wheel was loosing contact with the surface where it momentarily hit (or rather didn't) the steepest inclination with the rear still on the flatter entry inclination. Unfortunately I cannot get at my setup sheets at the moment but adding 0.5mm or 1.0mmm to front droop settled the car right down.
