Post subject: | Questions about Martin's EC warm up setup |
Hi there fellow xrayers, I have a couple of quick questions about the EC setup Martin posted 1. In the report on redrc Martin said "To make the car easier to drive with a soft set-up, we raised the roll centers on both front and rear upper linkages". Did he mean raising the RC by reducing the number of spacers on the bulkhead clamps? And why does that make the car easier to drive on a soft setup? 2. On the setup sheet Martin has noted that he used the 1-hole rear uprights. What effect does that have on the car? Thanks all, and well done at the event ![]() Craig |

Craig Soft set up can leads to tires overheating which can cause "stoping the car in the corner" in other words front stops and than the rear get loose. Therefore I rised the linkages, car was easier to drive in corner, did not stop. I rised the linkages by adding shims. I used 1.5mm shim on front upper clamps (0.5mm hire than H roll center) and I used 3mm shim above the c hub. In the rear I used 1mm shim (same position as H roll center) and 4mm shim on upright. I used 1-hole to get better cornering speed and out of corner steering. But with this upright you get little less traction. |

Hi Martin, I struggle to get 2mm above the C-Hub due to the rims hitting the camber link connector. What rims were you using? Cheers Andrew |

I had the same problem and was advised to use the ball studs instead of the balls that fit under the screw as the screw raises the hight to much. I use the xray 302655 10mm ball stud. I have 5mm under them with the one hole rear uprights so needed the 10mm. There are shorter ones though. |

Thanks for the reply Martin, really good info! Andrew, I believe you need to change over to the composite ball joints in order to use 3mm spacers on top of the c-hubs |
