Thanks for all the posts on this :P

I do love the team driver input on the XRAY website - part of the reason I have ordered my t3'11.

Whilst lacking the abilities of Hagberg - it is interesting that the ALu provides more traction - can it be that because:

a. it is a bit heavier so it adds to the unsprung weight;
b. because the piston holes are bigger there is lass 'pack' so the piston goes through the oil quicker.

Anyway - whatever the reason - I am gonna hold onto the plastic ones until I feel a real need for a change.

Lohan,

for sure you do not get much more traction, I would say that good driver can feel that he gets more traction but the lap times are same with both, so it is more about feeling than performance in this case

The reason why you can feel more traction is that pistons in plastic are 1.0mm diameter while in alu, we use 1.1.

For sure plastic are working otherwise we will not put them into the kit

It's been very hot in Australia lately and people have been finding the plastic shocks quicker in these conditions... I just wish they were easier to build

Craig,

How do you build them up?

I think they are not too hard to build if you make them this way:

1. put oil in and make few times shaft up and down
2. then wait a while or use air remover (so you get all the air out)
3. put bladder on cap and put cap on the shock
4. open bottom of the shock and take out all the oil what is needed from there
5. close the bottom and clean the mess and you are ready.

Craig,

1. Do you use the foam inserts above the bladders? No and this way its easier to get less rebound in shocks.
2. Do you drill a small hole in the cap to vent air above the bladder. Yes, this helps to build them up. I use 1.0mm drill bit.
3. Do you use the kit orings? Yes, I use std o-ring.

What also helps is to cut bladders outside edge in angle. If you put fresh bladders and you cut them that should help.

When you take pressure out from bottom dont take out to much as then you can have air inside the shocks.

Let me know if you still have problems with them.

Out of interest Teemu - would you recommend careful trimmimg of the bladders even in the plastic shock absorbers?

does have to be a 1mm drill bit, or would 1.5mm do?

It's just coz I can't seem to get my hands on a 1mm bit.
