Post subject: | Setup Help - Fast but nervous FK on Carpet w/Foam tires. |
I've been running my FK on carpet with Foam tires for a few months now and have found a very fast setup. However, I'm realizing that the car may be a little better. During transitions the car feels slightly 'nervous'... perhaps twitchy. Its most noticable on left to right or right to left transitions but I've also noticed the nervous feel when transtioning from off throttle to on throttle. Any clues as to how to make the car less "twitchy"? My setup is.. Front Tires - Parma Cyan / 58mm / Paragon on inside 1/4 Rear Tires - Parma Magentas / 58mm / Paragon Full Camber (-2) degrees on all four wheels Front Links - Lowest outer hole on shock tower, 3mm spacer under link on knuckle. Rear links - Lowest outer hole on shock tower, 2mm spacer under link on rear upright. Caster - 6 degrees Kickup - 0 degrees (middle holes) Antisquat - 0 degrees (middle holes) Wheelbase - Longest Ackerman - Inside holes on the servo saver and ackerman extention plates on the Knuckles. Toe - 1 degree toe-out in Front / 2 degrees toe-in in rear Front Shocks - 30wt Xray Oil / 1 hole open / Light Red Spring / Outer hole on shock tower Rear Shocks - 30wt Xray Oil / 1 hole open / Purple Spring / 2nd outermost hole on shokc tower, inner hole on arm. Front Swaybar - 2mm Rear Swaybar - 1mm Ride height - 4.5mm front and rear Droop - 2mm front 4mm rear Motor - 27T Stock Gearing - 128 Spur 36 Pinion Parma Alfa Body |

Almost forgot to mention. Battery placement has left side batteries moved forward 1 slot. |

The toe settings i think as i am discovering have a massive effect try less toe out on the front my 0.5 and more on the back. Depends how twitchy it is 3 if its really bad 2.5 is more advised. Shift the weight back a bit with the batteries too Other things to try are heavier dampening. |

If none of that helps, you might want to lean in the shocks 1 hole. The outer holes give less side traction, but faster response. |
