Post subject:  XRAY T3R Gearing Questions [HELP]

Hey, my name is Chas :)

I am buying my first XRAY car next week or maybe the week after.
I would like to know what gearing I need to use with the stock spur on this kit.

I already have 14 and 21 tooth pinions. I need to know if they are both completely off or not and if I will be able to run the kit with one of these without burning out my electronics, or stripping the spur.

The XRAY T3R will be powered by my Losi Xcelorin 6.5 Sensored brushless system and my CORE RC 3250MaH Lipo (if this helps to answer my question)

please help me :)

thanks

Hi Chas,

you will need 48p pinions. The spurgear is 84T and I run a 24T pinion on it with a BL 6.5T motor (5900 turns per Volt - 'kv'). The more kv your motor produces the less teeth your pinion should have. The setup above works for mid-sized and bigger tracks I would say. Try the 21T pinion first I would say.

Hi, I realy need help, I have a T3 2011 and a 4,5T X12 motor, I have geared with 19t pinion, any one can help to chose the gear I run in a big track , in the motor manual it says to gear it 8.5:1, but I have seen other setups with 6:1 and even 4:1

A total ratio of 4:1 on a 4.5T motor? I think the motor will run very hot then, right? If you go too high with the teeth on the pinion gear you will have too high motortemps (maybe also ESC- and batterytemps) and you will end up in lower topspeed and acceleration than you would have with a smaller pinion gear.

Do you have selected the right ESC program for most power?
