Hi,

What's the benefit of using metal steering blocks and uprights? Are they more resistant in case of shocks rather than the plastic ones?

The point is sometime ball bearings are broken (for several reason, mainly because I'm not a good driver yet and so the car leaves the track), then the consequence is the inner part of steering block and/or uprights are is broken because of broken ball bearing.

Would only the ball bearing be broken with Alu parts i.e. steering block and/or upright would survive a broken ball bearing?

Thank you

Honestly, if you are racing on rubber tire metal hubs and steering knuckles are not needed. If your hitting things hard enough to break bearings then the smaller bearings found in the metal parts will become a bigger issue for you - not to mention the metal parts will bend. My recommended is to:

#1 buy a bunch of cheap bearings - $1/each from an online retailer like avidrc. - replace bearings often.
#2 buy a bunch of replacement 14mm and 16mm screws as I bet you are bending your arm mounts with hard hits
#3 get the xray hard bumper
#4 lift off the throttle some times :)

the alu front knuckles and 1 deg rear uprights are great, they never bend and weigh only a tiny amount more than the plastic ones due to the smaller bearings. Excellent if you race on tracks that have boards everywhere. The knuckles are great cos you never strip the bottom kingpin screw. Be aware the 5x9x3 bearings are more expensive than the std 5x10x4 bearings. The rear uprights also have 4 mounting holes that never strip.

do not use alu c-hubs, they bend. stick with the plastic as only the biggest of crashes into boards will break them anyway.
