Hi Guys, Im running a T2 009. Running on tarmac tracks in 10.5 I would like some advice on the above question. I currently put a 2mm shim between the steering linkage and the front hub, but at Mendip track yesterday some people were telling me not to run any shims, but then another Xray team driver said I should run some shim may be 1mm. I would just like to know what this setup option does to the car and when you should run more or less shims between steering linkage and front hubs.

Bump steer is the situation in which your front toe angle changes when the suspension is compressed or rebounds. You need a setup station to check it. You may or may not need the shims. You can read the details on Bump steer on page 17 of the T2 setup manual.

You can notice the difference mainly on corner entry at the end of the straights. The car turns in slower without reducing cornerspeed, making it easier to drive. I use this nearly always.
Just take your time and remove the shims, go driving, reinstall them and drive again and then decide if you want to use them.
