XRAY - Model racing cars

I never owned an 04 so I cant comment on the car, it is producing a new car every year that eventually gets to the loyal followers and keeps prices up because as long as Xray develops a car every year the R&D never real gets covered as well as it may. I just had to pay $6.00 for one control arm.. could that control arm be cheaper (maybe 2 in a package for $8.00) if a car was in production for say 2 years? I would hope so.

All I am saying is when you make a new product every year eventually people do shake their heads and close their wallets.. Look at GM, one reason they are going bankrupt is producing new models every year thus R&D costs are HUGE!!!!

People like consistancy, many just bought their 05's (me in August thinking it was the latest and would be around for awhile)

Xray relies on people going out and buying the new car, if they didnt Xray wouldn't make any money so to say people dont have to buy the latest would be financial suicide for a company,
"We just made a new car but you dont have to buy it"

Wouldnt that be horrible marketing??

I like my car, I will most likely get and 06 for the summer but if they then produce a newly designed 07 HPI or HB will be getting my business.. Loyalty is only good until the pocket is empty and in our area we dont have a supporting hobby store so I have to mail order all Xray parts, a $6.00 Arm would cost me $14.00 if I didnt need some tires this order.

vertigo, i dont mean to be argumentative but what would your opinion be if xray were to realise areas of a car that could be improved but would not release it or only release it to team drivers because they did not want people to HAVE to buy a new car. If you were to hear of team drivers driving a car that we could not buy or hear that xray could make a better or faster car than the one currently in production would but wouldnt, would that not annoy you more or at least question if xray were really all they could for there customers. In my opinion i welcome every development that xray make , be it a new option part or a new car. At least then it is up to me whether i want to buy it or continue with what i have. If i cant bear not to have the latest/ best car or option out then i must just have to bite the bullet and buy it. You cannot i feel criticise xray for making progress. If the parts or cars were no improvement then i could see your point but they usually do offer a benefit whether it is with adjustment possibilites or just outright pace. As long as older cars are supported with respect to spares (not an issue as mario has stated) and set-up and general advice (im sure all the team drivers will still do all they can to help us mere mortals with that) then i honestly cannot see a problem.

I am only playing devils advocate.

Often in racing, full scale or RC the team drivers get what others don't.

As I said Yokomo had many followers until they started to make a new car every year and people gave up keeping up.. The cost of tooling and R&D is very high. The longer a company can go between cars and still feel they are staying ahead of the pace the better it is for the consumer cost wise and the company financially..

There will always be progress, at what cost to the followers..
