what about if the car (which was largerly pictured) was just a "mirror"?

A prototype, normally, is kept well secret. And I believe Xray having all the chances to develop a new car, without having people looking at.

To mislead the competitors.... test a "different" car....

My 2 cents over...

Not being demanding - rather, suggesting that XRay be honest with its consumers. A couple prototypes have been seen in the public - even photographed and shown on-line ... the vendor order sheets have a listing for a FK05 ... let's be real here; there is a new car coming and announcing a little detail about the direction they are going without listing specifics will not break any confidentiality. Personally, I don't care if they come-out with a new car every 2-weeks - but, they should keep in mind that they have several consumers that have been with them through the hardships of a growing RC Car company - including product shortages, car shortages, etc...

XRay racer, your relation to the 1:1 car world is inaccurarte since many of these manufacturers display their prototypes for feedback from their consumers. If the interest is high enough, they launch the car ... to name a few, Dodge Viper, Prowler, The Honda S2000, and the list can go on for several pages.

The interest on this topic is obviously quite high considering that one of the protoypes is breaking-away from the T1 car that we have all grown to love.

Not commenting on the prototype , but why do you think a car with this basic layout would have more steering in one or the other direction? There is no torque steer as it is still a belt driven design. If the weight distribution is equal left-right there should be (and is ) no problem.

If we look at the T1FK it is more likely you will get uneven steering if you run the left three cells in the forward position as the left front and right rear tires will carry more weight compared to the other two tires. Even here it is not an issue assuming you detweaked the car before running it.

Tony assuming we are looking at the 415/possible xray prototype type chassis then to balance the weight of the batteries you will obviously need to add weight to the opposite side but what if you had to add so much that the car is significantly overweight would you still rather have a balanced overweight car than unbalanced but closer to the weight limit. I ask because on one of the pictures of the prototype that has been posted here there is a huge amount of weight had to be added to the servo side of the car which must surely have taken it overweight.
