Ackerman extenders

sounds like quite a good idea what effect did it have on the car when it wasnt broken

Much smoother steering response and the car wouldn't scrub speed in the turns. I was about 1/10th of a second faster with the extenders... plus the car felt much smoother and easy to drive. But you have to finish the race to win! lol I took them off and the car was still VERY good... I just couldn't drive it as aggressively as it would bind and become less predictable.

I loved mine on foam. They smoothed the car out on entry but gave the extra mid corner steering I've bene looking for. My lap times were faster as well, and more consistant.

I haven't had any breakage problems though. I can see why it would be a concern though. I haven;t tried them on rubber yet, but as JUANE said, the extensions kill the steering travel which is needed for rubber.

You are right about the steering travel - I had to up the steering travel from 80% to 120% on my radio - I haven't had any breakages yet - it may only be a matter of time though!

The only way I know of to avoid the problem mentioned in this thread is to modify the servo saver, as it's the servo saver hitting the bulkhead causing the broken knuckles. The setup I'm using on carpet uses the inner holes on the servo saver, so I cut the outer holes off of the unit entirely. This allows more steering travel in either direction, and keeps the servo saver from hitting the bulkheads @ full travel.

I didn't break any parts with them but cutting the servo saver sound like a good idea. I never used the outer hole anyways.

You might want to consider the aluminum steering knuckles. I haven't had them bend at all yet.

I also run Hitec HS5925MG digital servo and it seems to have enough torque to prevent hitting the bulkhead so far.
