XRAY - Model racing cars

Hi all,

Who is doing the British Indoor Winter Series at Don Valley this year with an Xray??

@ Ben Cosgrove (or anyone else who ran these wheels last year on an Xray) - Did you use the 26mm inch-up wheels last year? What do you think to the control tire/wheel/insert combination this year?? Did you have to 'trim' a bit off the shock bottom? (or top cos someone said to run them upside down as there is more material at the top than the bottom??) Does it make it alot weaker, trimming it down??

Jonathan Aird came 6th in Stock last year at the Winters using the same tyre/wheel combination as Dan and had no problems, he's also doing the juniors this weekend using same and I don't see there being any problems. File a bit off the shock bottom as Anton as said, one other thing you can do is:

With regards to the "new" insert, we went down to Don Valley last Friday night, we didn't use the insert but plenty were and most seemed very happy with.

I think Bens setup will be better than if i gave you one.

If you do the mod to the wishbone and use the grubscrew's that you would normally use you'll need to drill the hole a little deeper than it is as standard. If you don't it can pull out of the wishbone like it did to me last night in the last round oh well at least i did a good lap before that (13.96 )

Where do you race on a Saturday? You fancy coming up to Sharley Park?

I ran 21/93 (7.84) in Mod with a 11single V2 and the same with a Monster (Peter Fox (no relation) special ).

I think i was undergeared because a few people told me i was being eaten alive down the straight in both classes but i did'nt really notice too much of a speed difference. I suppose they've got to take into account the people i was racing in mod were all sponsored so they were bound to have a small power advantage.

I think i'll gear up a touch for next time depending on the track.

I was in the A in stock with you lot as well. Had a bit of bad luck in qualifying and just got into the A, but I managed to get 5th in the final.

Have to agree with Anton having the screen projected on the wall was a superb idea, saves John being pestered all the time and where we were sat could easily keep an eye on what heat was running

Dan ran 128 spur and 29 pinion, about 25mm per rev, with a Luna 10 x 1 looked ok.

Struggled in qualifing, he was in the 3rd heat from 6, which was a bit of a mare after finishing 5th overall last year. Funny how there were 7 HPI's in the top heat, but we should be there for round 2, hopefully.

We had bad interference in the final and had to pull out.

How many HPI's did you hear break spurs and gears?
I counted 8 and that was only in the heats finals I watched.
