oooh I bet you get different answers on this one!

Normally before every meeting.
If the meeting is a club non champ race then I might go without a rebuild but often find I need/want to for the finals. IE 3 qualies/3 finals and another 3 qualies is about the limit.
If it is a BIG race then I will normally travel with a 2nd set of rebuilt shocks and fit them for the finals; if not I will rebuild for the finals.

Rebuilding above does not include the O rings

So I prefer my car with 100% rebound it just seems to drive better and give me more grip at my local track. When building them with full rebound after I screw the cap on, sometimes the shaft is hard to push fully in so I need to release some oil, is this the way I build them ? am I putting too much oil in ? I build them as per the instructions with the foam and diaphragm in the cap before screwing it on. BTW this is with the alloy shocks.

Does anyone have a link to a place where I can read more about shock oil, springs, pistons and all the other things related to shocks so I can learn more about them?

I'm a total newbie and I don't really know anything about shocks and when to alter them.
What makes you decide when to alter the shocks?

Personally I don't know what to look for.

The setup book for my T2'008 is really good but it doesn't explain that much about shocks, only that it pays to rebuild them quite often.

EDIT: didn't look for it properly, page 30 in the setup book...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Coach -Z, perhaps not the answer you are after , but...

The Xray setup book is great but there is another book which complements it and I would thoroughly recommend it in terms of additonal information on how things work. It covers all/most aspects of tunable elements you will find on the XRAY including springs, shocks and oils but if I remember correctly, not rebound. It is a great book for newbies but I carry it in my pit box and will always refer to it if racing on a "foreign" track. It is called XXX Main chassis setup up guide. Have a chat with your local model shop and see if they have it or can get it. I have done a quick check and found a USA website which ships overseas - used it myself so can vouch for it - that has the book in stock; 13.99 USD + postage. Not sure If I can mention the name here so I will PM the URL to you.

HTH

Hi Coach -Z, I have sent the PM (twice) but whilst the system has told me it has been sent, the two messages are sitting in my outbox not my sent box, I have no idea what is going on. Did you receive the PM?
