XRAY - Model racing cars

My front diff works in every way apart from it can't maintain load. I can't here it slipping when racing but has to be very tight to stop the central shaft spinning when holding just the front on the floor, it would rather slip than wheel spin (without pressure on the front) is that the thrust bearing gone ? as i am sure its got a new one :/ maybe not, also I don't mind buying anything that is transferrable to a future car as long as i don't need new bulk heads or anything.

Can someone confirm that this part XR305002 is a direct replacement on a standard t1 evo1, if there is other things please help me out with whats different.

Will just one diff sufice i.e. same tooth quantity as the original diffs ? (remember seeing a low gear ratio set somewhere is this that one ?)

hi col, i had a similar problem with my t1r. after a process of illimination and a couple of hours stripping and rebuilding diffs. on mine it was the outdrive that holds the thrust race, it had an internal fault of some kind which meant the diff would tighten up but would slip the pulley even at max tightness. hope this helps.ian

Don't be skeered to use the grease in the syringe for the diff balls. It's a special grease with 'grip' property. Most grease, like wut I use on the thrust balls, lubricates and is 'slick' while 'special diff grease' (in the syringe) is of type that allows movement but not slippage.

The point is that if U use just any other kind of grease on the diff balls IT WILL SLIP! But U say Ur using the supplied grease (syringe) so that part is OK. We still gotta find the problem.

Xray is not gonna pack anything in it's kits that won't work. I know the instructions say to use the same grease on both sets-O-balls so it should be OK.

Also check that Ur 'spring washers' are correctly oriented and check the BB assemblies (5 x 8 mm). Make sure they spin smooth an' free and that they are not damaged from re-assembly. I know they are hard to put back in under the pressure of the spring washers.
