Hi guys
I'm putting together a t4'14 for my brother.
And I have serious amounts of play in the steering rack. At the bottom where the screws go through, to the bottom of the bell cranks (steering arms). Too tight and they don't move, no tight enough then the slop is crazy and I feel it will fall apart.

Also does anyone have any setup tips for low grip racing, such as gym floor surface.

Much appreciated

Sounds like you got some parts missing or wrong/bad bearings in there

Hi guys,
Thanks for the reply. The bearings aren't missing and have been checked, the rack is the correct way up.
The manual States, tighten fully then back of 1/3 of a turn. Of which I have done.
The steering goes from being tight to feeling alright, but when back on the car the up travel and movement, gives me the feeling it's going to fall apart
I remember years ago, the winyards made a fix for this but can't remember what

There is a little up and down movement from the bearings moving in the housings but shouldn't fall apart. Did think about using bearing fit to stop the movement but I don't notice it on track so didn't bother.

Hey

The past few races we have been using the plastic steering, this has a little less play which gives a bit nicer feeling on track.

Oj

Is it a new kit or a used one? I can only think that the plastic yokes have been damaged somehow.

I use the standard kit parts. I tighten the screws until they are snug, and I don't back the screws off (as that is sure to give some play). I've never had them bind when done that way. Maybe try a small 0.1mm shim between the yoke and bearing to give a bit more clearance with the screws tight.
