XRAY - Model racing cars

I have a X-ray t3 and a Novak 3.5 ballistic with a havoc pro esc. I run it out doors on large pavement tennis courts with rubber tiers. I am using stock spur and a 20 tooth pinion. What is the best motor and gearing for this car and what rpm should a novak 3.5 ballistic turn to stay cool and run smooth? I had a 15 tooth pinion on it and it didn't run as well as the 20 tooth pinion the car was to jerkey on the gas. I also have a ballistic 8.5 would this be a better motor for my t3?
