the first is a s1 rx8 40th AE that has had rebuilt engine, new clutch, tyres and radiator being sold by a rotary mechanic. The interior is in subpar condition and the drivers seat will ultimately need replacing, the dash is cracked and personally i do not like the s1 but due to the extensive work done i am open to the vehicle. The vehicle is around $13,000 aus and has 150k on the clock The alternative option is a s2 RX8 GT ( equivalent to a S2 R3 in the states) with 150,000km and compression results of front rotor 100, 110, 110 and rear rotor 90, 95, 100. The car is in otherwise good condition e.g the dash has not cracked and the side bolsters on the seat are not worn. The car has upgraded ignition coils and plugs. The vehicle is located 24 hours drive away so i will have to fly there to inspect. Negotiating has taken place and we are at 11,000. There are extra expenses though (vehicle freight $700 and rego in different state is about $600 ) so at the end of the day the vehicles cost about the same. I am worried that the compression numbers for the s2 indicate that the motor is on its way out (especially on the 2nd rotor). On the other hand i am worried about paying to much for a 40th ae s1. I feel like it will be a very hard vehicle to to sell as the s1 has a bad reputation. My plan is to drive the car every 2nd weekend up mountain roads the car will be lucky to see 2500km in a whole year. |
