Hi Guys, after several tests I found that the distance from the crankshaft to the clutch preload nut sbolle be kept between 0.15mm to 0.18mm at least. If you go beyond this distance the spring becomes too tight and then the engine and clutch is not properly set. I am using an engine Picco. So the distance shown in the manual is too tight to use with a Picco engine, don't know with other engine. Which is the distance are you currently use with XCA 2014? Thanks

Hello Lynx75, the numbers in the manual are still the old ones (I think from the 2011 car) and absolutely not practicable with the US (ultra stable) clutch spring. I use pretty much the same distances like you. From .15 - .20mm under normal/good grip conditions just varying on track layouts. In low grip conditions I use max. .15mm or a much softer spring. The engine is an O.S. Speed with the XCA'12 clutch which is "the same". So these and the Piccos have really great torque and so the clutch settings should be very equal regarding to these engines' characteristics. |
