XRAY - Model racing cars

I have just finnish building my new RX8 2014. But when mounting the engine with clutch and move it as much rear as possible the pinion does not reach enough to the gears on gearbox ?? But when taking away the 2 front screws which is mounted from under the chassi then i can move the engine/clutch towards the gears on gearbox with satisfaction !!
Anyone else had that problem ? or is it just my chassiplate ??
It seems that the pair of front holes engine mounting is not enough milled.....
I have tried with XRD, PICCO and ORCAN ( novarossi ) engine and its all tha same....

I have the same problem and I run with Picco. Roelof, I read the link posted and is not enough enlarge the 4 holes of the engine.

After a suggestion, I resolved temporarily as follow:
1) I mill the 4 holes of the chassis (approx. 1,5-2mm)
After this, try to fix the engine but I'm quite sure the engine touch the piece 343020.

So:
2) Mill (2mm) the lower little wing of the engine (Where the screw fix the engine)
3) Mill a little bit the 343020. (Where the engine touch the 343020)

Fix the engine and see if the 2 pinions reach the gears. On my RX8 the "joint" Pinions/Gears is good but not perfect.
That's mean, you can run but the lifetime of the 2 Gears is unknown.

I hope Xray will resolve this problem soon!!

The new RX8 is a very good car!!

Build the car is funny and easy. The quality of the Xray is not in discussion. All the pieces Xray is 100% high-quality Level!!

In my opinion should to improve in a couple of things (that's just my opinion). Anyway don't worry, is a very good car the new RX8!!

Are the bearings clutch the same as 2013 model please?

No, bearings are new - now in the 2014 model are used 930508 - 2x and 359050 - 1x bearings

Finally I have got my new RX8 2014 kit, the building phase will start soon.

Its an amazing car the new rx8! The quality is on top indeed.

I need an advice. How is possible to get the rear end more free from the beginning? Do you have advice on this? How do you approch this part of the build?

I am sure Xray will give us an idea, a video also may help .

I just filled the bottom holes on the chassis a bit larger.. Can run the 2014 & 2013 clutch fine once I did this..

Not a major issue but not ideal..

I also found this issue on my 2014 with OS engine.
I only make chassi front engine mount hole more rear.
But as "Pasquorc" says engine body touch bulkhead, So now my Engine shaft was not perfect parallel with 2 speed shaft.

This happened also in rx8 2011 and 2012. Engine doesnt reach the gears. I changed all my clutches with the mugen one and a lot much better. Also clutch shoe yellow costs 20 € and mugen is 7 €

On the weekend I came up with gears problem. While run in my new engine (and the XRAY2014) after a while 1st and 2nd gear became completly destroyed.

So what I am plan to do is :

1. Mill the chassing engine holes a bit
2. Mill the rear lower bulkhead until the engine and gears match each other properly.

Not sure if someone of you have already done this, but I will give a try.

yes, you're right. To response to your question, maybe you can mount the engine in a slight angled position to get the clutchbell to the spur gears closely enough (not too good). Also Ermen ran the older 1:8th 2-speed system on his car (at least at Hockenheim on RedRC's 'chassis focus'). I think this was not without a reason.

Are you using the NT1 2-speed system included in the kit?

Yes I am running with the original speed system included in the kit, as it is.

I am going to mill the four chassis holes, and see if I need to mill the rear bulkhead too.

At the end I've milled slightly the 4 chassis holes and milled the rear bulkhead a little but did not fix the issue.

Anyway I mounted the engine slightly angled with 2014 clutch/ speed provided in the kit.

That's all.
