Double side tape should work fine but if it doesn't contact the chassis as much as you'd like just use some shoe-goo underneath to 'stick' it to the chassis. Shoe-goo works good because it holds very well and is very easy to remove when you need to.

My 2cell lipo is light because the mAh is so low. Also we have a spec esc that is fairly big (Novak GTB). In 1cell you could get a smaller esc for less weight. Our 1cell weight is also 930. I figure that would be easy to do with a smaller esc, less wire, 1cell and no balance weights.

Is the 930g weight the same for 2cell? If it is I would go 1cell, easier to keep the weight down and 1cell seems to be the way 1/10th pan cars are run world wide. Makes it easier to race at a "big" race without having to change your car around completely.

Indeed I thought of the Hobbywing Extreme Stock Version.
However in the specs and on the esc itself it says 2-3 S LiPo.
Does it work with 1S LiPo?

You say I will need rx pack or booster.
Looked for them on the hobbywing website. Can't find such thing. Help...... please...?!
Shoud I buy the booter from http://www.rcdynamics.co.uk?
http://www.carsrcracing.co.uk/?p=183

What is it exactly?
What does it do?
How to connect it with the esc itself?
(sorry but I am used to LRP SXX Stock Spec in TC in the past, didn't need those things)

The Hobbywing Extreme Stock Version can be used for 2S LiPo, as I see it.
The booster isn't necessary then?
Advantage would be that I have an esc that can be used for 2S and 1S. Again, if it can be be used for 1S. The specs don't say so. Please elaborate on that.

On the website of Novak it says that, because a certain special technology, the Novak Havoc 1S doesn't need an additional booster.
How do you see that?
That was originally the reason why that esc was te most appealing to me.
http://www.teamnovak.com/products/brush ... index.html

Did some research on the hobbywing extreme stock. Found a lot of info on a dutch forum about it. I decided that this esc is a big no no as to using 1S Lipo. Lots of guys had problems with. It simply isn't made for 1S. Looking at the 120A 1S now.
Anything to say on this one:
http://www.hobbywing.com/english/Articl ... icleID=467
This one is especially made for 1S. No booster needed then?
Hobbywing states that it has a built in booster. So that should answer my question?

Did some additional research during this day.
Novak is no option anymore, sad to say. It isn't easy to purchase overhere in Western Europe. It seems like it is kind of a "US-thing".
Hobbywing is easy to get my hands on via the "Hong Kong route".
Not sure yet what to do. Gonna decide between the 120A 2S or the 120A 1S.
Depending on what LiPo to go for.
This weekend I am going to visit a race for the EPS series (European Pancar Series). I especially will be looking if guys are using 1S or 2S in WGT and what esc and LiPo.
After that I am going to definetely decide.

HW 1cell:
1.8 Size: 43mm(L) * 36mm(W) * 33mm(H).
1.9 Weight: 105g

HW Extreme Stock:
1.8 Size: 33mm(L) * 28mm(W) * 31mm(H) (Cooling fan height included)
1.9 Weight: 46g (Neither power wires nor cooling fan weight is included)

Size/weight it seems the extreme stock is the way to go. People here have been using the Extreme stock with either a booster or a Rx pack (LiFE) with no issues here. You must use the switch on the booster or rx pack and not the switch on the esc. As for hooking them up it depends on what you get. A rx pack will just plug into the rx. Some boosters may require being soldered to the battery terminals of the esc.

I think the best thing to do in your case since you have so many questions and concerns is to go to the track you'll be racing at and ask the racers there what they use. The best info will come direct from the people you'll be racing against.

Post subject:  Re: LiPo battery configuration

Thanks for the info.
As I said, I am going to visit European Pancar Series races. The first one this weekend in The Netherlands.

As to HW Extreme Stock:
this is for certain not a 1S ESC. In The Netherlands lots of guys had problems with it.
So if I would go for 1S the HW Extreme Stock is for sure out of the loop.
I am sorry to say but I don't understand why anybody could advise me this esc with the use of 1S.
But hey, who am I to say. I am Manual, I am from Spain and I know noooooooohtink........;-)

The only option with HW, if it has to be 1S, would be the 120A 1S. But I think it is too heavy (105g).
Novak Havoc 1S is no longer interesting. It is a sport esc, not really a race esc (Novak say so themselves). Furthermore it is difficult to get my hands on in Western Europe. Looking into LRP also, but they don't provide the info I am asking for. I am allergic to that......

The reason why I would want to opt for 1S is because I think this the only way to be as light as possible.
Problem is that there are not really that much ecs's that are really 1S. Maybe I'm back to square one and have look into 2S.

But again: EPS might tell me more, starting this upcoming weekend.

I am not going to buy this because it is not a 1S esc, but for the sake of argument, you say:"Size/weight it seems the extreme stock is the way to go. People here have been using the Extreme stock with either a booster or a Rx pack (LiFE) with no issues here. You must use the switch on the booster or rx pack and not the switch on the esc. As for hooking them up it depends on what you get. A rx pack will just plug into the rx. Some boosters may require being soldered to the battery terminals of the esc."
- the "people" you refer to use it with 1S LiPo?
- what is the "rx pack". Is it a battery?
- where exactly do you have to plug it in?
- it needs constant charging after every day of racing?
- what is better, rx pack or booster?
- how much weight does a rx pack add?
- as to using the switch: so the switch on the esc is always on, or off? And just use the switch of the rx pack?
- the problems the guys I hear are about the esc not working well anymore with 1S after downloading en installing new software

I'll be using a booster with my HW extreme stock esc in my XII. I can provide more info when I get a feel for it.

Booster was recommended by my local track owner over a rx pack. However, in 12th scale, he is using no booster or rx pack. It can be done with the proper electronics and esc setup.

Post subject:  HW Extreme Stock or HW 120A 1S

I want to race WGT 1S LiPo 10.5t
What HW esc best to use.
HW 120A 1S seems to be the obvious choice. But it is a bit heavy.
Would the HW Extreme Stock work? Knowing that is isn't a 1S esc, but 2S-3S.
Would that be a problem?
Could it work with this booster: http://www.carsrcracing.co.uk/?p=183

The HW Extreme Stock seems interesting because it is lighter than the HW 120A 1S. But I have heard of problems with the HW Extreme Stock when using 1S LiPo and booster. Is that common? Something to do with the software?

In the specs it says that HW 120A 1S weighs 105g. Someone told me that that is including wires. What does it weigh without wires?

Weight is of the utmost importance for me because I want to be as close to the limit as possible (930g) with a XRay X10 Link and 1S LiPo and mini or micro servo and wires as short as possible. Would 930g be possible with the HW 120A 1S?

Post subject:  Re: LiPo battery configuration

I ran my XII with the extreme stock hobby wing esc. Used the Tekin TQ booster, no issues at all. This is with a 17.5, motor timing 0. ESC settings I'd have to lookup. Seems it's very doable :D Car ran great until I broke the servo. Servo saver didn't save it :x
