Hi!

I would like to know, which engine would you recomend for a racer, starting with 1:10 touring category.

Engine must be relieble, powerfull enough to race, parts must be on stock.

I could realy use some links (to shops, where the engine, you recomend, is sold (EU please (Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy,...)))!

Engine should cost around 300-350€ with pipe and manifold (425-500$), if cheaper great, if more expensive it's not so ok, but it can go to 400€.

I would like to hear with which engines you drive and how do you feel about them.

Some brands to think about: Sirio, Picco, Novarossi, Mega, Max,...

hello there,

let me start by welcoming you in the 1/10 nitro touring class (the best ever). about the engines, the price you are looking at 500 dollars could get you one of the best engines out there.
in my opinion, i would recommend either a NOVA engine or a NOVA based engine, i personally tryed few engines, OS12tz 3 and 5 ports, SIIM .12, Max power racer, Max power XXL3, NOVA 353.

-OS engines, good engines, good power easy to tune but IMO doesn't last as long as a nova, price about 250-350 dollars range with pipe (not speed version)
-SIIM are great but they are discontinued (SIIM = SIRIO)
-Max power is great, XXL3 is the bomb, easy to break-in, easy to tune, very fast if combined with a nova 2630 pipe. price around 480 dollars with pipe.
- well my nova 353 is modified by Murnan in the states with full ceramic bearings, its not the same as the one you buy from nova, but overall, the engine is amazingly fast and expensive compared to a stock one, i won our 2008-2009 nats with it :)


i would reccomend the Maxpower XXL3 longstroke + Nova 3620 pipe
top level engine, either if you race at a club or in an international event, the XXL3 will go all the way. just tune it to 280F (C6TGF or C7TGF plug)and have fun controling the car :)

P.S. about the europe distributer, i have no idea since i live in Kuwait and get my parts from the states.

Hi!

I didn't find any MAX engine distributors, but I found quite good offer in one of the online stores.
It ofers JP .12 P-3L 'tuned' motor (black case):

I want to know, if this engine matches my criteria and if Novarossi parts fit on it (it's made by Novarossi). I also want to know which pipe and manifold to use with it on NT1.

The P3L is just as good as many other more expensive engines (some say it is even better). The Black edition has some good points over de normal edition and will give you enough power and plessure.

JP is just out of bussiness but with the compatibillity of Novarossi parts it is not difficult to maintain the engine although when it is at the end of life it is better to buy a new one.

I have raced the p3l tuned in the dutch championship this year.
The 2601 exhaust combined with a short conical header gave the best results.
It didn't feel like i was missing power on the other drivers.
The only thing you have to watch out for that it starts to eat plugs after 10 liters of fuel( i've raced mine pretty hard so after 10 liters it was pretty much worn out).
Last weekend it ate two plugs in a row and that was the end to my engine.

But for the price it's the best. Now you don't have to buy a crappy picco engine if you want a fast engine on a tight budget. :lol:
