Bearing grease is normally used in the thrust bearing because of the axial force and bearing oil for all the other bearings which endure radial force only. If you were to pack all the drive line bearings with grease you would get a certrain amount of fluid friction, due to the viscosity of the grease compared to the oil. For example, it is much easier to stir a cup of coffee than it is to stir a tin of treacle/syrup!!! ![]() |
