Hello, I need some help here. As priority I would like to run the 53T Spur & 24T Pinion without stripping. As the proactive step before approaching the forum, which I have not tested on track yet, I have currently adjusted the 1st gear ratio to the following: -60T 1st Gear SPUR + 17T 1st Gear PINION (from 15T & 16T) -53T 2nd Gear SPUR + 24T 2nd Gear PINION -7 Tooth split -I have also just installed the Monoblock motor mount to eliminate the need for re-meshing each time the motor is extracted after I get the mesh set correctly. I have done the paper test on the mesh, but fear I am pushing the gears too tight as I hear sound when I roll the kit in reverse. My shift point is set rather late right now & is on the original 2 speed springs from the NT1's 1st year production, & I will set it to shift sooner after reading that tip. Kindly any advise on how to eliminate gear stripping further before I test & burn up more gears on the 1st run out. The throttle span is not effecting the gear mesh. My main goal is a reliable way of running the 53T Spur & the new 24T Pinion. Thanks, |

Hi dubber, I do tight all the screws of the motor mounts except for the ones that secure the engine on the plates. These are the four screws I use to ajust the gear mesh. I find this is the best way to do it. What you have to take into account is to leave a minimal play between the supr and the pinion. you can use a thin pice of paper and put it between supr and pinion. If you push them together, the paper should leave the correct distance. Nevertheless if you are constantly stripping gears you should check the bearing and the long shaft, just in case it might be slightly bent. |
