Have a look at the thread below. It gets a bit involved but Proffarbacco suggested a way to increase the belt tension when using 18/25 gearing. I am still surprised though that you are damaging so many belts. Check that the teeth on your side gears are perfectly clean and not damaged. Are you using the standard NT1 brakes? They are very fierce, especially if you apply them aggressively. We have changed our pads to teflon material which is much more progressive. The sudden stopping of the back end of the car must put a lot of stress on the side belt. viewtopic.php?t=8105 |

like I said, I knew it was too loose, but I ran it anyhow. I usually end up replacing belts just because I think they might have too much time on them. just looking for an aftermarket tensioner.. I maintain my cars to perfection..my day job is chief mechanic for a race team, not a dirty pulley. Just want a different tensioner.. any suggestions and sources? That or I am just going to make one, but time is money.. would rather order one. |

and I know that I can modify the piece, I would rather not. has anyone used the Atomic or KM tensioner? |
