I notice by viewing a number of drivers' set-up sheets that they all use the default settings (as in the NT1 Set-up Manual) of 1 front and 4 rear. This gives an uplift (droop) of the chassis of approximately 2.5 mm front and 3.5 mm rear. How does drivers' make minor adjustments without moving to the next level on the droop gauge, ie from 1 to 2 front and 4 to 5 rear which may reduce the droop excessively and creating tweak in the chassis? Your comments appreciated

I might not be able to answer the question as you would like, but when you say minor adjustments, are you talking about going in halves on droop? or are you talking about doing other adjustments to the car? When you re-adjust droop on the car, as long as you do it equaly from left to right, your tweak should not change, as you are only adjusting the amount that the suspension is allowed to bottom out at.

Thanks. I found that if you set the car up at 1 front and 4 rear the droop can be excessive for some track conditions. However if you move to 2 and 5 on the droop gauge the droop is too small.

As you said to get somewhere between the two settings you adjust the downstop screws equal amounts either side.  I have done that and checked the droop using the ride height gauge, ie. measure the ride height and then raise the car to the extent of the downstop screws with wheels held on ground and take the measurement again - the difference between the ride height and the raised height is the droop.

Having done this adjustment I have rechecked the droop using the blocks and droop gauge and found it to be uneven from one side to the other even though I have turned the downstop screws equal amounts. Also I have found that measuring the droop using the ride height gauge, as explained above, the droop is not equal from one side to the other even though I turned the screws equal amounts.

Maybe I should just turn the screws equal amounts and leave it at that but if you do that you don't know what your droop setting are for future reference and a small adjustment on the screws makes quite a difference.

Hi Delboy.

Please let me know what do you mean when you say "excessive" too much high or too much low?

I make changes to droop from 1/4 to 0/4 when the track is bumpy and from 1/4 to 1.5/4.5 when the track is very smootly.

But I think that 1/4 is a very good point of setup for every situation.

Droop must be set without ammo and anti-roll bar connected, and there is no link (and has not to be) with ride height.

I change the droop only dueing to track condition
