FYI,
If anyone is comparing the setup I ran in the C main, with , please be aware that my setup was based off of his Q4 setup.
As the top guys do, he was hard at work fine tuning the setup during Friday nights practice, after my C main was already finished. And as expected, his final setup was faster for him. I'm sure I could have benefited from faster lap times as well had our C main been run on Saturday as was the plan.
Here are the changes he made from the Q4 setup (not including anything I posted above, per my own version):
* Switched from 38s/40s to 35s/38s tires
* Switched from 0 offset hex hubs to -0.75mm hex hubs
* Increased overall track width from 197mm/198mm to 197.5mm/198.5mm (fr/rr)
Note: This means the length between inner and outer arm/hub pivot points were effectively lengthened by 1.25mm on each side
* Increased caster by switching from 2.0mm shims to 1.0mm shims behind upper front arms (from 9.5d to 11.9d caster)
* Switched from 33lb short front springs (Lt Purple) to 30.5lb short front springs (Violet)
* Stiffened front anti-roll bar from 0d to 30d
* Closed one hole in front shocks, from 3 holes open to 2 holes open
* Decreased front ride height from 0.2mm to 0.4mm less than the rear ride height
* Softened rear anti-roll bar from 2.2mm bar with softer ball joint setup to 2.0mm bar with stiffer ball joint setup
* Decreased rear toe-in from 4.0d to 3.5d
* These changes also shortened the wheelbase from 261mm to 260.3mm
Of course, all in all these changes make a lot of sense when put together as a total package.
I highly recommend trying this setup for most medium grip tracks.
Later next month, I'll be comparing this setup to Ralphs setup from last years Capital Classic setup at my *high* grip home track (301 Raceway, MD).
