Acceleration problem

On my last race day my car accelerated as it normally does but on hitting the second gear, it made a hissing sound and acceleration decreased, it was much the same effect of a stripped gear. When the car was brought in all my gears were in perfect and gear mesh perfect . Carried it out again and pulled off great but on hitting second same issue.

I took down the clutch and it seemed ok, the only issue I found was the side belt tensioner was no longer able to create tension on the belt.

Can you give me any suggestion for this problem could it be the tensioner or transmission or anything else??

Glad to report, I ran my car yesterday at our final season race and I won each round in my class
