NT1 Springs Rates

Developed from extensive testing and racing experience, these racing shock springs were designed and precision-crafted to have a unique spring characteristic.

The XRAY spring sets were designed to give you an optimum range of choices to fine tune your car. Each set of front springs (shorter) is individually measured, controlled, inspected and matched to provide equal damping characteristics.

Silver Springs from kit

The silver rear springs (long) included in the NT1 kits are similar to the #308396 - Spring-Set D=1.7 (28 LB) Violet (4) and the silver front ones (short) are similar to the #338185 Spring-Set D=1.8 (33 LB) Light-Purple (2)

The engine mounts on some of the Novarossi engines may not fit perfectly on the NT1 engine mounts.

Follow this handy tech tip to carefully remove material from the engine mount tabs (on the engine crankcase) to allow the engine to fit properly.

Use a file or mototool to carefully remove material from the front of the engine mounting tabs as shown. Perform for both engine mounting tabs. Use appropriate safety equipment and eyewear.

Remove only enough material so the screws of the engine mounts do not touch the crankcase mounting tabs as shown.

Height-Adjustable Body Mounts

XRAY presents new height-adjustable body posts for the T2 and NT1. For serious racers who focus on small details, body height plays a very important role in the performance of the car and as such ultra-fine body height tuning was developed by XRAY R&D engineers to address this increasingly important tuning set-up feature.

The body posts are a direct replacement for the standard body posts in the T2 and NT1, while the body holders have the elevated mounting. This makes body height adjustment very easy and comfortable. In a few short seconds and clicks, you can exchange the body holders to adjust body height.

There are two different body-height adjustment possibilities: +1mm and +2mm. The new body-height adjustable body posts are available separately in a pair of front and rear, allowing for independent front and rear body height adjustments. Looking for cutting edge, fine-tuning adjustment? Now you have it.

The body mount set includes extra robust 6mm-thick bodyposts moulded from special XRAY composite material which is ultra lightweight yet very durable and fl exible to minimize breakage if the car flips or crashes. The beefy body posts are easily mounted to the car and include the necessary hardware to mount the body holders. For easy identification the new height adjustable body holders have been stamped +1 or +2mm for instant recognition. Easy and smart.

Effects of Shock Damping - Correction

In a recent review of various XRAY Set-up Books, we determined that some information about the effects of shock damping would benefit from minor clarification. As such, tables entitled “Effects of Shock Damping” have been updated in the following books:

• T2 Set-up Book, page 32, Effects of Shock Damping

• NT1 Set-up Book, page 10, Effects of Shock Damping

As always, we at XRAY continually strive to bring the up most accurate and up-to-date information about car set-up so you can get the most out of your race cars.

XRAY NT1 Pinion Gear Tool Set

On page 4 of the XRAY NT1 Instruction Manual, in the “Tools Required” section, we list both the #182001 and #182002 HUDY Pinion Tools. XRAY now offers both of these tools in one set for your convenience: (Click here for more information).

Note that these pinion gear tools are best used with the - not included in set. (Click here for more information).

Another method for bleeding shocks and setting rebound

Since I came from the previous electric XRAY driver camp, I've always used the *old* shock bleeding method from the first generation of the XRAY adjustable shocks. Most drivers do not have any problem with the new shock bleeding process in the manual. However, here is an alternative method if you do:

1. Initial Bleeding Process

• For adjustable pistons, make sure all four piston holes are open
• Turn the shock upside down
• Push the piston in as far as it will go (the pressure may not let it go in that far) and hold it there for two seconds
• Let the piston rebound by itself all the way out. For adjustable pistons, you may need to twist the rod a little for the piston tab to seat itself into one of the notches in the bottom of the shock body and it will rebound out approximately one more millimeter.
• Let the piston sit for a few minutes to let any remaining air rise up to the bottom of the shock body in preparation for it to be bled out through the rod hole on the bottom of the shock
• Unscrew the end cap, pulling it up off the shock body, and let the oil and any remaining air bubbles bleed out for about 30 seconds. Then push the piston down about halfway and screw back on the end cap.
• Clean the excess oil off the outside of the shock with motor cleaner

2. Setting Rebound

Place each front or rear shock pair (with all four holes open when using adjustable pistons) on a shock measuring tool, fully compress them and check the rebound damping speed and how far each extends itself to see if they are the same. If you don't have a tool, then just check the rebound of each shock with your eyes. If one shock is faster and/or extends more than the other, perform the following final bleeding process to the faster/longer rebounding shock:

• Turn the tool so both shocks are upside down
• Unscrew the end cap of the faster rebounding shock again and let the oil bleed out for about another 30 seconds
• Screw back on the end cap, test the rebound damping speed again for the pair and repeat the two steps above again until the previously faster/longer rebounding shock has the same amount of rebound as the other shock

3. Clean the excess oil off the outside of the shock with motor cleaner

4. Place a little amount of light oil onto the threads above the aluminum ride height collar and let it soak in. This will keep the spring collars from binding on the shock body threads when adjusting ride height.
