 Post subject: Mazda RX8. To Buy or Not to Buy?

So I'm turning 18 this month and looking for a steady part time job. As soon as I get one my parents promised me a new car. After extensive research I am willing to dedicate the time and care to owning an RX8. I have a few questions however.

I live in the Midwest, we get snow, the RX8 is RWD. How reliable is it during the winter, especially for someone who hasn't drove an RWD?

Are the engines as unreliable as rumoured? I am of course willing to care for it.

I am planning on getting a 2008-2009 RX8 with 75-100k miles on it. These range from $7-11k, I have heard these break down after a certain mileage point, is this true and is this a reasonable buy in point?
