The pulleys are a tab bit heavier compared to the composites. But they are far lighter than the aftermarket CSO, KM or Atomic. The main reason to use the aluminum pulleys is the self-cleaning holes. The pressure of the belt will force all the dirt/rubber out of the pulley through those holes. I owned the CSO pulleys before switching to the XRAY's. The CSO pulleys are heavier, and the wear on the teeth is higher compared to the XRAY's. I have run the pulleys for a few months and after cleaning them with a tooth brush, they practically look like new. Hope this helps. |

The 20t aluminium brake pulley is lighter (about 1g) than the composite+aluminium brake pulley holder ..this is the only one that I use. |

Usually aluminium is always heavier than plastic...nevertheless it will always offer more reliability and durability. |
