Post subject:  New Alu Belt Pulley vs Original

Can somebody tell me either new alu belt pulleys or original are lighter and lower rotating mass :?:

Are the effects of the alu belt pulleys significant on rotating mass :?:

Thank you. :D

The pulleys are a tab bit heavier compared to the composites. But they are far lighter than the aftermarket CSO, KM or Atomic.

The main reason to use the aluminum pulleys is the self-cleaning holes. The pressure of the belt will force all the dirt/rubber out of the pulley through those holes.

I owned the CSO pulleys before switching to the XRAY's. The CSO pulleys are heavier, and the wear on the teeth is higher compared to the XRAY's. I have run the pulleys for a few months and after cleaning them with a tooth brush, they practically look like new.

Hope this helps.

The 20t aluminium brake pulley is lighter (about 1g) than the composite+aluminium brake pulley holder ;)

..this is the only one that I use.

Usually aluminium is always heavier than plastic...nevertheless it will always offer more reliability and durability.
