Post subject:  muffler spring mount wire

hello,
i am using the max power 2649 tuned pipe and the muffler mounting spring is touching the steering knuckle.
seems like the tuned pipe is too long but i was told this pipe system is made for the nt1.
what gives?

pipes are made for the engines, not for the cars

With every engine the exhaust will get the same position.....

You have to re-position the spring holding the exhaust like bending it upwards or move it closer to the chassis.
Or just find a shorter exhaust which there is.

tried that, the connection seals start to buckle at the header and muffler.
no matter what i do this max power pipe is just too long for the nt1,its only a few millimeters from the tire.
i got this from robert at ashford hobby and he told me it will fit perfect on the nt1 since the max engines and pipes are generally used on them.
guess i will have to use one of my spare novarossi pipes,
thanks for the help.

Then it is wise to check out the manifold, that can make the difference.....

We use a Novarossi 2652 muffler and a 6 fin manifold and have about 15mm between the muffler and the steering ball. The front edge of the manifold (where it joins the muffler) is roughly in line with the front engine mounting screws. Have you measured the overall length of your muffler and compared it with your Novarossi?

the max power 2649 muffler is 10mm longer than my novarossi 2630(from the flange to the wire mounting nipple).
the headers look to be the same dimentions as they are both inline with there engine mounting screws.

I have rechecked our car more accurately and can confirm that there is 15mm between the front of the muffler and the steering linkage. As I said previously. our car is fitted with a Novarossi 2652 and a Novarossi 6 fin manifold.

I have also checked the the length of the 2652 muffler against the 2630 and they are both the same so you should have 5mm clearance when your Max muffler is fitted, as you've said that the Max is 10mm longer than the 2630.

Do you have the latest NT1 with the adjustable wheelbase. If the wheelbase is at its shortest I think it will give you less clearance between muffler and steering linkage.

i have the '09 kit,
i am now using the novarossi 2630 and it fits perfect.
so i am now stuck with a brand new maxpower 2649 that i cannot use...it wont even fit on my serpent 720,mugen mtx4r or kyosho v-one rrr.

I guess that is why the World Champhion used the Nova 2652 on his Max
