Hi guys,

what about the eccentric holder (anti-roll bar) in the front of the nt1? In the manual it says that the holder should move freely, but if it moves freely the downstop settings change all the time.

My question: How do i adjust/use those holders correctly?

best regards

This is a really good and important question, and so much people do it wrong.

My setup: On droop blocks, shocks removed, I first tighten the downstop adjusting setscrews equally, so when I slide the anti roll bar female to male, there wont be any change on downstop values. antiroll bar positions are only influenced by this screws, eccentric holders only change the lower arm position.

Having my antirollbars perfectly symmetrical, I disconnect the female again, and now its time to adjust downstops with eccentrics. I know this is a lot harder, but after some time, you'll get used to it, and understand that this creates zero tweak.

Now we see that other cars started getting the front downstop adjusted by the lower arm itself, not from the anti roll bar, where life gets much easier.

Any other ideas?

Well, after adjusting the setscrews, its down to trial and error on the eccentics. I measure the downstop and play cw or ccw until I reach the desired value(+1 or 0) then I tighten the screw fully to see if there is any change. If it changes, I release the screw and play with the eccentric, and tighten it again, nothing fancy.

By the way, in this method eccentrics wont end up symmetrical left to right mostly.

Just to go one step further the method that is described by Musti, at the end you need to confirm that the front antiroll bar has the same effect on each side.
I use a spacer under the front right steering block to raise it. Then I measure with the droop gauge how much the left steering block has been raised due to antiroll bar effect. I put the spacer under the left steering block and I measure how much the right steering block is raised. If the two values are different, the antiroll bar does not have the same effect on both sides and I play again with the eccentrics and the droop screws until I get it right.

Musti, could you please elaborate how do you know that your left and right side of the antiroll bar are set equally set by playing with the screws?

I assume your asking the very first step, I just check the downstop before starting to adjust the screws, for ex. left -2 right +1. I slide the antirollbar then, and if this values change, I recheck the setscrews, so sliding the antirollbar is very smooth, and doesnt have any effect to each other.

If you set the front downstops as per the Xray Set-up Book, ie.

Disconnect shock absorbers
Disconnect front anti-roll bar
Place chassis on droop blocks
Adjust downstop screws until you get +1 on droop gauge under each steering block
Reconnect anti-roll bar
Check to see if measurement has changed under each steering block
If it has, adjust the eccentrics and downstop screws until each side is even and at +1
Carry out Demitris P test and adjust eccentrics and downstop screws to make sure you retain +1 either side and the anti-roll bar is balanced

What is the difference to this method and the one recommended by Musti72?
