looking for some info

are Xray palning on making a solid rear axle, similatr to the light weight front spool?

are the cvd's up to taking the strain from running a front spool/solid rear axle or would you advise dog bones?

xray supply a plastic block to make a spool inside the diff, a third party company does this in alloy and its allot stronger in the rear.


a top tip for cvd's is to make the up and leasve out the pin retaining grub screw. it creates far less wear

rear spool for touring cars is somethin unimaginable, you won't driver the car in straight line.

In case you want to adapt the NT1 into a 220mm an you need the rear spool you can fill the holes of the plastic insert with epoxy. This will stengthen the part and it might be enough, without having to buy any aluminium part.

The CVD's need to be periodically revised and maintained with grease. If you do this on each race they will last a whole year with no problem. In case of using the front spool it might be a better idea to use dogbones, just to go safe. You will avoid having to check the CVD's more frecuently.

In a 200mm a rear spool will make driving impossible.

30mm rear tire is not enough to support the power of the enine in a way to make it controlable.

1/8 scale or 220 both have wider rear tires.

it's just a way of speaking.

Sorry if I translated that directly from spanish.

Maybe you missunderstod the meaning. That is a very common way to describe the car here in spain when it's VERY difficult to drive.

Next time I will try to me more precise with my language.

PD. I do not recomend using rear spool over any condition.

its ok i realized it was you way of translating afterwards, I run 220 and the spool works but we find a very stiff diff is just as good on most uk tracks

Glad that thing are clear now xD.

Of course with the 220mm a rear spool might be great. To be sincere I haven't run one of those cars ever and I'm sure that hey are great.

In the 200mm I tried once 300K front and 150K rear and the car was really fast, bust VERY difficult to drive. Plus the track had massive traction. Really after that day I reassured myself on not using more than 100K on the rear diff, unless traction will be very high.

Remember that just in the starting line I lost so many positions because my car spinned just when I accelerated. Afterwards performing was incredible but had to be very careful with throttle.
