XRAY - Model racing cars

I come from an offroad world and have entered the on-road world with the T2 '007.. love it by the way..

But I love nitro as well and was looking into getting one of these nice new NT1 cars. My question is the tires..

Foam tires seem to have so much maintenence to them between runs.

What are the advantages of foam tires over rubber tires on the nitro cars. Is it that races require them.. is there a foam class and a rubber class such as electric? Better traction.. etc..

Will you have to set this car up differently if you run the rubber tires over the foams and vice versa?

At our club there were some guys racing on rubbers, the problem is that most of the time they will not last the day or even a half an hour, the tires will explode.

Foam is then more predictable in life but also in grip and much cheaper.
