Arizona Hotshot QB John Wolford left the game with a back injury after starting the game 14/22 for 127 yards with a TD and an INT and the score tied at 9 each. QB Trevor Knight came in to relieve him and went 8/17 for 95 yards and a scoring drive, but could never get back into the game. Stallion QB Josh Woodrum had himself a day, going 22/31 for 178 yards and a TD. Stallion WR De’Mornay Pierson-El led the way with 8 catches for 90 yards and a TD. The final score was 23-15. Arizona is now 2-1 and Salt Lake is 1-2.Saturday evening, the Orlando Apollos preserved the notion that Florida doesn’t lose in football and handed the Memphis Express their third loss, which suggests there might not be a lot going on in Tennessee outside of whiskey and “Rocky Top”. Apollo QB Garrett Gilbert had his most modest of outings , going 14/28 for 201 yards and a TD. Apollo RB D’Ernest Johnson led the way with 13 carries for 79 yards and a TD. The Apollo offense rushed a combined 30 times for 183 yards in a victory. Memphis has quietly taught us a lesson in holding on instead of letting go. QB Christian Hackenberg, a known quantity, started the game 8/14 for 88 yards and 2 INTs. He was eventually replaced with QB Zack Mettenberger, who went 9/12 for 125 yards and 2 TDs. Expect Mettenberger to start moving forward. The final score was 21-17. Orlando is 3-0 and Memphis is 0-3.On Sunday afternoon, the Birmingham Iron continued to remind the world that Alabama is a football powerhouse and left me wondering if there’s any good football left in Atlanta. Here’s looking at you, Matt Ryan! Iron QB Luis Perez had his most pedestrian of outings, as he went 17/31 for 160 yards and an INT. RB Trent Richardson continued to plod aimlessly into the end zone it seems, as he rushed 17 times for just 46 yards and 3 TDs. Atlanta QB Matt Simms went 28/48 for 328 yards , a TD and 3 INTs. Again, more of the same out of Simms, but this time with gusto!Birmingham is 3-0 and Atlanta is 0-3.Sunday night, the San Diego Fleet beat the San Antonio Commanders 31-11, proving once again that just because you wear bars doesn’t mean you control the stars. Fleet QB Philip Nelson went 17/25 for 193 yards with 2 TDs and an INT. RB Jaquan Gardner had 12 carries for 122 yards and a TD. San Diego rushed 28 times for 202 yards as a team in a win. Commander QB Logan Woodside went 12/23 for 151 yards with a TD and 2 INTs. WR Mekale McKay had 4 catches for 91 yards and a TD. San Diego is 2-1 and San Antonio is now 1-2.If you’ve watched any games so far, are there any players that are sparking your interest?Personally and again, I think Gabbert, Perez , Wolford and Nelson are potentially NFL quality QBs that I’d like to see get an opportunity. There are a few skill players like WRs Mekale Mckay and Charles Johnson and potentially RB Zac Stacy that could play in the NFL. That said, what are you seeing? Are you even watching?
