Post subject: | Engine Leakage |
Engine Leakage The engine manufacturer advises that due to the specifications of the micro size nitro engine and the manufacturing processes, this may result in some fuel leakage that may be of a higher rate than larger scale nitro engines. The amount of fuel leaked may differ from engine to engine; this is natural and therefore is not considered as a fault or defect. If you suspect that your nitro engine is faulty and/or has very serious leakage, do not immediately send the engine to your dealer, distributor, or to XRAY for repair or replacement unless instructed to do so. You will need to perform the following initial steps. 1. Take a digital photograph of the engine where it will be clearly visible how much fuel has leaked, and send the photo to info@teamxray.com 2. Indicate the length of time after running that the leakage occurred. 3. Indicate how many times the engine has been run. 4. Indicate if you have broken or damaged the engine, and if so give details. 5. Provide information about the fuel you are using, particularly the percentage (%) of oil in the fuel. 6. Indicate if the leakage occurs immediately after you start the engine or only after a period of time. If after some time, indicate the length of time after running that the leakage occurs. 7. Indicate if the leaking was present from the first run of the engine or if it started afterwards. 8. Indicate where the leak is coming from. Check that the leak is not simply fuel leaking through the exhaust outlet. 9. Check and advise if the O-ring between carburetor and crankcase seats properly and is in good condition. 10. Indicate if the flywheel and collar are seating properly. 11. Indicate the serial number engraved on the engine crankcase. 12. Indicate the serial number of the kit - printed on the certificate. 13. Provide your full address and daytime and night time telephone numbers as well your e-mail address. All of this information MUST be e-mailed to info@teamxray.com BEFORE continuing. This information, including the digital photo, will be provided to the engine manufacturer who will advise if the leaking seems to be standard or not, and what steps to take next. |

Setting an Earlier Clutch Engagement The NT18 engine clutch shoes engage in higher RPM range. If you prefer an earlier engagement under lower RPM, de-assemble the clutch bell and slightly bend the clutch shoes assembly together with the springs. The springs will become softer and will let the clutch shoes engage later. It is very important that you bend both clutch springs equally. |

Use Standard Response Mode radio setting only Please note that the XMS01MG XRAY Micro Servo is an analog servo and therefore it is required and necessary that you set your radio transmitter to Standard Response Mode, not High Response Mode. If you set your radio to High Response Mode (or similar), you run the risk that the servo electronics will become damaged, possibly resulting in servo failure. For more information about setting up your radio, please see the instruction manual supplied with the radio. |

XRAY NT18 Engine Fuel information: For break-in and general running, use high-quality, market-available model car fuel for 1/10 nitro touring cars containing 16% nitromethane by volume ratio. Although you can obtain more power by increasing the nitromethane content, it will shorten engine life. We strongly recommend to use only standard fuel with 16% nitromethane. |

NT18T Ball Differential Setting and Break-in VERY IMPORTANT! READ THIS! Please note that the factory pre-assembled ball differential is pre-built but is NOT tightened. To enjoy long life and smooth performance of the differential, you need to break in both front and rear differentials properly. You will need to run the car several times for a short time, and each time tighten both differentials a small amount. Differential Setting To tighten the differentials, remove the front/rear upper arms as described below, and use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the diff adjustment screw. Break-in Procedure 1. Run the car for the first time at only 1 throttle for 30-60 seconds. 2. Tighten both front and rear diffs slightly by 1/16 turn. 3. Run the car again for 2 minutes at 1 throttle. 4. Tighten both front and rear diffs slightly by 1/16 turn. The differential should still turn freely. 5. Run the car again for 5 minutes, this time up to 1 throttle. 6. Again tighten both front and rear diffs by 1/16 turn. Now the differential should be tight enough. The differentials should still turn freely but it must slip with higher resistance. Remove the screw from the top of the front steering block or rear upright. After removing the screw, lift the upper arm to allow the drive shaft to disconnect from the differential. You can now fit the screwdriver into the ball diff. To tighten the front differential you need to remove the RIGHT front upper arm to give access into the diff for adjustment with the included Phillips screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver tip into the differential adjustment screw, hold the left front wheel firmly and then tighten (CW) the screw as required. To tighten the rear differential you need to remove the LEFT rear upper arm to give access into the diff for adjustment with the included Phillips screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver tip into the differential adjustment screw, hold the right rear wheel firmly and then tighten (CW) the screw as required. To check the slip of the front differential, grab the RIGHT front wheel and apply the brake. Turn the left front wheel. You should be able to turn the wheel but with resistance. To check the slip of the rear differential, grab the RIGHT rear wheel and apply the brake. Turn the left rear wheel. You should be able to turn the wheel but with resistance. |

XRAY Micro Parts Cross-reference Table Now you can download an MS-Excel file that lists all spare parts for XRAY M18, M18T, M18MT, NT18 and NT18T cars, to see which parts fit the various versions of the cars. Navigation is very easy. Use the drop-down menu at the top to filter your selection. For example, if you want to see only spare parts for the NT18, use the drop-down menu in column "XRAY NT18" and select "X". You can do combinations of filters. For example, to see which option parts fit NT18 and M18, use the drop-down menu in columns "NT18" and "M18" and select "O" in both columns.
