Whats the official status of using the one way on carpet (with foams)? I read something while back from rc mushroom about not doing this-even with metal outdrives. Any hints to make the metal universals last longer? Or should I quit while Im ahead? Would a ball diff in the back help (slip)? I didnt think so because it slips after the diff gear, at which point the front diff is already engaged. This is why I still like the idea of a one way idler up front as another option (nudge-nudge) ![]() |

My universal broke at the pin connecting the the 2 drive elements. Its X Ray's. The spring steel outdrives held out well with even the abuse. With more people opting for the brushless Mamba and Speed 300 motor with > 6 cells, spring steel universals maybe the way to go for M18. Have never broken one in my Evo 2 even with 6 turn brushless motor. X Ray spring steel universal is as strong as it can get. For 1/10 & 1/8 anyway... for now. With more demand maybe Mario can start on this later. |

Mario, the outdrives arent the problem (I do have those BTW), as zracer has pointed out the universals themselves are breaking (the aluminum ones)! I know someone else who had the same problem. Might pass this on to the engineers. ![]() |
