XRAY - Model racing cars

When I give the truck throttle, it sounds like the pinion is WAY too tight, but it is actually just fine. It really doesn't sound good. Also, I used a very small amount of shock oil on the axial bearings so that the balls would stay put when I put them in (which worked really well). Is this bad? Third, it seems like the bearings stick out a little (or in the case of the rear left, facing the truck, a lot) until I push them back in. They just seem to wiggle out time from time, but other than that, the bearings just barely peek out from the hub. I DID use the other side of the included hex tool to push the bearings in. Any help?

You could have your bearing not seated correctly in the gearbox, and causing a misalignment with the diff and idler.

Take your rear gearbox apart and checkwear on gears and see if retainers on gearbox walls are still present - like if outside one wore away)

Dontuse shock oil, its not thin enough, you will wear your bearings out faster if they seep inside. Go to your hobbyshop to get some hobby grade bearing oil and grease for the gears.. You migt also invest in some motor degreaser to clean these parts of dirt and grease before relubing.

Nope, no debris. Retainers? Are those those small rubber rings? I don't have those.

How do I know if the bearing is not seated correctly?

Noise coming from diffs. A rythmetic sound or a constant sound. Constant sound a bearing, rythmetic a gear pinion or crown gear, possibly spider gears. Broken gears. Ball diffs more of a screaching sound,ball a steel rings, A silicone grease can be used to lubricate ball diffs.Never use shock oil on bearings, One its to thin, it actually washes the grease inside the bearing. Sealed bearing wait till they get noisy. If you invest in rubber sealed bearing, they are maintainable by removing the seal, cleaning the bearing, blow dry, and useing wheel bearing grease instead of oil. Using oil does attract dirt & grime, Maintaining with grease, and wipeing off the bearing with damp alchohol rag it wont attract as easily.
