XRAY - Model racing cars

has anyone of you tried such combination?

I heard that not every brushless speed control will work with every brushless motor (because of different motor builds, i.e. number of magnets or something...)

I have both Mamba 5400 and 6800, they are powerful and fast - ideal for large out-door tracks, but on tight, indoor carpets they both lack punch (compared to 300 brushed motors e.g. Graupner Speed 300 6V or Orion Big Block). I think it`s because of high kV (they need more time to reach their nominal rpm`s) and because of small diameter of the core. that`s why I want to try the Hacker motor - its kV is 4200 and its diameter is bigger than the Mambas (it`s almost the size of a 300-class motor) - I expect tons of torque from that motor.

This is I think the best combination. Only think you must to do is that you must repleace the capacitor on speed controler from original 220µF with 1000µF or more. I have now 4700µF and works very well.

well, if the Hacker does not meet my expectations I`ll buy the Graupner

I also started with the 180 stock, then I went through 280 motors, then I raced the whole indoor and outdoor season on 300 6V Graupner. this indoor season brushless motors were introduced into our class and I immediately switched to Mamba motors - I had them earlier and used for trainings (to save the brushed motors). Until recently I missed one function in my brushless motors I had in my brushed-motor speed control - the autobreak (the break at neutral). But recently, thanks to mamba-link and the new software I can also set this function. So far I raced with 8% autobrake, but now I think I need to increase the amount of autobrake - to say 12 - 15% - especially on slow, twisted carpet tracks in order to make the model a bit more oversteer (or - less understeer ) entering the corners.

I haven`t received the package with the motor so far... I`m affraid I won`t be able to test it this weekend. Too bad because the next weekend I have competitions and I wanted to try this motor before that. In this situation I`ll not be experimenting and will stick to mamba (until the Hacker is thoroughly tested
