Hello everybody,

I have some technical question about the dampers of the XB4 :
From my experience, I think all the alloy parts of the XB4 are chromium anodizing. I found the dampers not really as smooth as my Bmax2 dampers where I use xb4 piston. So I've try to use my bmax dampers with xray 6x1.1 on the xb4 and the buggy is better damped.

After some research about chromium anodizing, sulfuric anodizing and hard anodizing, it seems that chromium are strong but not slippery as the hard anodizing.
slippery coating -> not slippy coating
hard anodizing > sulfuric anodizing > chromium anodizing

Why did you not hard anodizing the damper body instead of chromium anodizing it ? All other brand dampers are hard anodizing.

The second point is rod guide, the dampers from other brand have more spacer for guide. I think a better guide give smoothest dampers like all other dampers

Anyway, the XB4 is the best 4wd I ever drive (and I try some other brand) I just think its damper are not as good as rest of the car.

Thanks for your answer :)

All the XRAY shock bodies, even if they are black, are hard coated and afterwards color coated. The roughness of the surface depends on the layer of coating applied and we use such a surface which is suitable for the RC car shocks application (free movement of the piston). So no worry, your shocks are fine and working good :D
